GTA VI Display Setup: 4K, HDR, VRR and HDMI Checks
Latest verified dates: pre-load 10 November, launch 19 November 2026. See the GTA VI Launch Hub for sources and the change log.
The best display setup for GTA VI today is a set of basic checks: the right HDMI port, Game Mode, HDR calibration and VRR if your TV supports it. Rockstar has not published graphics modes on the pages we checked, so nothing here promises a frame rate or resolution.
Start with the checklist
Our display readiness checker saves your progress as you go. The steps below explain why each one matters.
1. Use the right HDMI port and cable
Many TVs support their highest refresh rate on only some HDMI ports. Check the manual or the label on the port. Use the cable that came with your console if you can, because older cables may not carry the same signal.
2. Turn on Game Mode
Game Mode usually reduces input delay by skipping some picture processing. Many TVs set this per input, so check it on the console’s input.
3. Turn off motion smoothing
Motion smoothing adds frames and can add delay. Check names such as TruMotion, Motionflow or Auto Motion Plus, depending on your brand.
4. Calibrate HDR
Run the HDR adjustment in your console settings. If your TV has an enhanced HDMI signal setting, turn it on for the console input first.
5. Turn on VRR only if supported
| Setting | Where | GTA VI support |
|---|---|---|
| 4K output | Console and TV | Unknown modes |
| 120 Hz | Console and TV | Unknown |
| VRR | Console and TV | Unknown |
| HDR | Console and TV | Unknown modes |
After launch
Use the graphics mode log to compare modes on your own TV. We will publish tested settings only after testing them.
