GTA VI Clip Workflow: From Console Capture to Scheduled Short
Latest verified dates: pre-load 10 November, launch 19 November 2026. See the GTA VI Launch Hub for sources and the change log.
The simplest GTA VI clip workflow has five steps: capture, label, check for spoilers, edit, then schedule. A short system stops you losing good moments and posting a story spoiler by accident. Nothing here needs paid software.
Before launch
- Check your console capture settings, including clip length and resolution.
- Check free storage. Our recording storage calculator helps you plan.
- Decide how you will move clips: a USB drive, the console’s companion app, or direct upload where your platform offers it.
- Read the current rules of your platform, and any content policy Rockstar publishes for GTA VI. We have not confirmed GTA VI specific terms.
Step 1: capture without stopping play
Use your console’s capture button to save the last few moments as soon as something good happens. Don’t try to edit while you play. Note the time, and carry on.
Step 2: label straight away
A clip without a label is hard to find a week later. Use the clip organizer to record the title, timestamp, source and status. It stays in your browser, and you can download a CSV.
| Field | Example | Why it helps |
|---|---|---|
| Title | Boat chase near the docks | Easy to search |
| Timestamp | 01:12:40 | Find it inside a long recording |
| Spoiler level | None, Minor or Major story | Stops accidental spoilers |
| Status | To review, To edit, Scheduled, Posted | Shows what is next |
Step 3: check spoilers before you edit
Watch each clip once with one question in mind: would this spoil the story for someone? If yes, hold it, or cut the part that does. Set a date when story clips become fair game, using the spoiler and chat planner.
Step 4: edit for one idea
- Keep one idea per short clip.
- Put the best moment in the first two seconds.
- Add captions, because many people watch without sound.
- Keep your own footage. Don’t copy another creator’s clips.
Step 5: schedule a steady rhythm
A steady pace beats a burst. Queue clips in advance, and keep a few spoiler-free ones for quieter days.
