GTA VI pre-load starts on 10 November 2026, but not at the same moment everywhere. On PS5 it starts at midnight in your own time zone. On Xbox Series X|S it starts worldwide at 12 a.m. GMT. Rockstar set out both times in its Rockstar Pre-Load FAQ, updated on 3 November 2026.

Why the two consoles differ
Rockstar gives PS5 a local-time start and Xbox a single global start. That means Xbox players in the Americas can start on the evening of 9 November local time, while PS5 players in the same city wait until their own midnight. In Tokyo the Xbox start falls at 9 a.m. on 10 November, so PS5 players there get the first chance.

What you need to do before the start time
Rockstar’s FAQ lists a short set of conditions for automatic pre-load.
- PS5: turn on auto-downloads, and leave the console on or in Rest Mode.
- Xbox Series X|S: turn on automatic updates, and leave the console on or in Sleep mode.
- Both: have up to 212 GB of available space.
If you bought a boxed copy, the box holds a download code and no disc. You need to redeem the code before your console can download anything. The Rockstar Store lists an estimated shipping date of 12 November 2026 for its own boxed copies, so a Rockstar Store box may arrive after pre-load opens.
How long will the download take?
At a sustained 100 Mbps, 212 GB takes about 4 hours 49 minutes at best. At 50 Mbps it takes about 9 hours 39 minutes. Real speeds are usually lower, so use the download time calculator with your own speed test result.
