GTA 6 Network and Router Readiness Checklist
A large pre-load is easier if your connection is ready first. Rockstar says the pre-load needs up to 212 GB of available space, and the PS5 and Xbox settings below come from its Pre-Load FAQ.
How to use it

- Use your speed test result in the download time calculator.
- Check your data allowance with the data cap calculator.
Worked example
Example: a sustained 50 Mbps connection takes about 9 hours 39 minutes for 212 GB at best, so an overnight start on 10 November is sensible.
What this tool assumes
Real speeds are usually lower than the speed on your plan. Changing DNS or router settings is not listed by Rockstar, so we do not suggest it as a fix.
Questions
Do I need Ethernet?
No, but a wired connection is often steadier than Wi-Fi.
Will the console download while off?
Rockstar says PS5 must be on or in Rest Mode and Xbox on or in Sleep mode, with automatic downloads or updates turned on.
